Make sure you de-clutter your home in preparation for viewers, but do not de-personalise your home. It’s a good idea to start by getting rid of the all the excess things that have been collected in every nook and cranny throughout your home, but you also need to make sure your home looks lived in, and not like a generic hotel room, so the viewer can imagine living there themselves. If you have bulky furniture that makes a room look smaller, consider taking this out or putting it into storage.
Paint It
Grab a tin of neutral coloured paint and paint the walls. You’ll be amazed at how much lighter and bigger your rooms will look. It will also make it easier for viewers to imagine the rooms in their own colours and style. Giving the front door a fresh lick of paint will also help create a great first impression for your potential buyers too.
Complete Quick Fixes
Fill in those holes in the wall, fix broken door knobs and cracked tiles to make the home look cared for. This will make the potential buyer feel they can move in without making any changes or fixes. Also clean your home throughout so it sparkles, hang our fresh towels and open the windows to get rid of all odours. Pop into the garden and clean the patio, trim the hedges and mow the lawn so your outdoor space looks its best.
Make It Light
Clean your windows inside and out, change the light bulbs, put lamps in dark corners and consider wall mirrors in smaller rooms or hallways as these can make your home and rooms look light, bright airy and bigger. Consider using shift lighting in the bathroom to create a warm glow instead of a harsh light.
