The winter months will make your home darker as there is less natural light than the summer months. While this can’t be avoided, it can be used to your advantage when selling your home in winter. Add blankets, throws and soft cushions to the living areas. If you have a fireplace, light it for the house viewings. Use candles to create that cosy winter affect and use wintery scented candles to add to the cosy feeling. Lampshades giving off a warm yellow glow will add to the warm and cosy feel of the home too.
- Warm It Up
You may have spare rooms where the radiators are often left off as the rooms aren’t used. However, the house buyer will want to see these rooms too. Make sure all the radiators in your home are turned on. Pop the heating on before viewings too so it is a lovely warm home for potential buyers to visit. There is no point putting all the work in to sell the home and the estate agency aren’t offering viewings for 3 weeks of December, for example. Get the photos of the home taken before the decorations go up. This will make the space look bigger and won’t put a ‘date’ on the photos either.
