If you’re looking to sell your home this winter, then this is a must-read blog post for you. There are plenty of great ways that you grab the buyer’s during the colder winter months to sell your home quickly. We have put together some of these ideas below to help you with selling your home in winter.
In the meantime, if you are looking for an estate agent in Peterborough to help you sell your home, any time of the year – just give us a call.
- Make It Cosy
The winter months will make your home darker as there is less natural light than the summer months. While this can’t be avoided, it can be used to your advantage when selling your home in winter. Add blankets, throws and soft cushions to the living areas. If you have a fireplace, light it for the house viewings. Use candles to create that cosy winter affect and use wintery scented candles to add to the cosy feeling. Lampshades giving off a warm yellow glow will add to the warm and cosy feel of the home too.
- Warm It Up
You may have spare rooms where the radiators are often left off as the rooms aren’t used. However, the house buyer will want to see these rooms too. Make sure all the radiators in your home are turned on. Pop the heating on before viewings too so it is a lovely warm home for potential buyers to visit. This will also show your house viewers how warm your house is and how well the central heating works.
- Remember First Impressions
While gardening might be the last thing on your mind during the cold winter months, the front of your home is the first thing the buyers will see. Pay attention to the outdoor space to create the best possible first impressions of your home. Rake the leaves up, put kid’s toys and bikes in the shed or garage and clean the patio area or garden path. These small changes will make such an impact to the curb appeal of your home.
- Prepare For Festivities
If you are looking to sell your home over the festive period, make sure the estate agent is open. There is no point putting all the work in to sell the home and the estate agency aren’t offering viewings for 3 weeks of December, for example. Get the photos of the home taken before the decorations go up. This will make the space look bigger and won’t put a ‘date’ on the photos either. However, here at Letters Group we will happily come back to your home after Christmas and take the photos again if the home is not sold. Just be aware that some estate agents will not offer this, or will charge extra.
